Sourcing Model
The BAG is comprised of individuals with extensive and deep IT backgrounds.
Throughout their careers, they have worked in multiple industry sectors across an array of diverse projects, performing many roles. Whilst this considerable experience has built a large network of contacts, comprising Senior Management, Project Managers/Project Directors, Architects, Business Analysts, Technical Specialists, Developers, Testers and other niche IT skill sets, it also provides them with the ability to add value to the Client’s IT business.
Consequently, The BAG will often either know directly (through having worked with) or indirectly (via well known and trusted sources) the most appropriate resources for a specific role. The BAG database is populated by IT resources such as these. Many of these resources are often “invisible” to the broader marketplace as they never look at job boards such as Seek or Jobserve because they have no need. Advertising would not necessarily find these resources.
The BAG has invested substantially (in terms of systems, time and money) in a very comprehensive sourcing program (which we call “The BAG Pro-Active Sourcing Model” see below) which has allowed us to establish a very effective and heavily qualified database of IT resources based in VIC, NSW, QLD and SA. Our database also extends to Australian resources based Regionally (Asia Pacific) who are available to work both in Australia and Regionally. This heavily qualified database from which we can do very efficient and quick searches for Clients, is a key differentiation of ours and we classify these Candidates as our “CAPS in The BAG”:
- Constantly validated and refreshed;
- Availability known;
- Pre-qualified;
- Suitability Matched:
- Experience
- Technology
- Culture.
The BAG job placement statistics highlight the value of the “CAPS in The BAG” approach. Upon examination of the placements made by The BAG across the last 24 months it can be seen that 75% of The BAG permanent placements and 85% of The BAG contractor placements were sourced via The BAG database.
Resources identified from the The BAG database or network, have their skills validated and cultural suitability assessed in line with our understanding of the Client and their requirements. To achieve this, the interview and validation process is done on 3 levels:
Technical Assessment: where the technical focus of a role falls into the experience domain of a member of the The BAG team, it is this individual who performs such validation. If the technical requirements of the role fall outside of The BAG’s skills, then the skills required to perform such technical validation are sort through our Professional Services capability and/or from a network of “affiliated” companies to validate the short-listed candidates.
Cultural: This assessment is always performed by the The BAG team and they are well versed in how to conduct and what to look for, in an interview of this nature; they are also acutely aware of the consequences of selecting a candidate with the wrong cultural fit.
Referencable: The BAG has three (3) approaches when it comes to performing reference checks. Depending upon the processes the Client prefers to follow we can do any combination of the following:
- The BAG standard reference check;
- “Targeted” reference checks following the interview with the Client. This enables The BAG to “drill down” into specific areas identified by the Client to ascertain capability, specific experience or to explore “team fit” in relation to Client team dynamics. Of course if the Client prefers, the reference check can be performed by the Client with or without The BAG involvement; or
- Informal reference checks through The BAG’s network of colleagues and associates who may know or have previously worked with the candidate.
